For walls, ceilings and larger architectural surfaces, we recommend a good-quality short-pile, lint-free microfiber or fine-fibre roller, approximately 5–9 mm pile.
A short-pile roller carries more paint than foam, helping you maintain a wet edge across larger areas, while still producing a fine surface without the heavy texture associated with conventional long-pile wall rollers.
Work in manageable sections and keep the paint moving wet into wet.
For a refined, uniform metallic appearance, lightly finish the surface with the roller travelling in the same direction.
For a more expressive, handcrafted finish, the roller can instead be moved in soft overlapping and changing directions to intentionally create variation in the metallic reflection.

What brush should I use?
iommo metallics are water-based, so we recommend a high-quality soft synthetic brush with fine, flexible filaments.
A good synthetic brush should hold enough paint while releasing it smoothly, helping to minimise visible brush marks.
For general furniture, joinery and architectural work, a 40–50 mm premium synthetic brush is an excellent all-round choice. Smaller brushes can be used for detailed work, mouldings and decorative elements.
When cutting in around the edges of a wall before rolling, work in small sections and roll into the brushed area while it is still wet. This helps the brushed and rolled sections blend together more naturally.
